Latest firmware leads to picture output issues
OK, here is the issue in short. I recently updated to 03-04-120517-21-POP-408-000 firmware. Almost immediately I noticed an issue where at irregular intervals the picture would "disappear". In short, my C-200 is connected to an onkyo receiver then an LG LED TV all through HDMI. When the picture disappears, the onkyo receiver shows a "no signal" from the HDMI input. The TV appears to "reboot" for lack of better description - the light on the bezel goes off, it comes back to the startup screen with the clock, then reconnects to the HDMI source.

Now, the whole setup worked 1 hr before I did the upgrade. The kids were watching a movie and I made the stupid mistake of thinking that while I was doing some other stuff I would upgrade.

What I have tried to resolve it:
- Installed the 03-04-120607-21-POP-408-000 firmware (no change)
- connected the C-200 direct to the TV through HDMI and the C-200 to the onkyo receiver using a digital optical audio cable instead (no change - except here you can hear that the audio continues while there is no picture).

The symptoms when the video disappears is that approx 10 secs before it disappears the movie will "stall" - however the audio continues to play (just the picture stops). After around 2-3 secs, the picture starts up again. Then, about 7secs later, the TV will cycle.

Also, when I am watching TV through a set-top box on the TV and the C-200 is powered on (even though it is on a different HDMI input) it will cause the same issue on the TV. So I can no longer leave the C-200 running while I watch TV between movies.

This is VERY frustrating. So far after contacting tech support their response so far has been to try a new cable (?? but it was working 1 hr before I did the upgrade??) or to take it back for service (was purchased 2 years ago - so out of luck there).

The whole system has been working for 12 months without a glitch (yes, I know, I should have left it alone). Nothing was changed before I did the upgrade, and as I said, the kids had just finished watching a movie when I did it.

Not only is it very frustrating, but I just talked the wife into letting me get 2 more - probably C-300's - one for the kids lounge and one for our bedroom.

Under the Audio/Video section in the Setup I have tried the following:

Video Output: Auto / 1080P 60Hz / 1080P 50Hz / 1080P 24Hz

RE: Latest firmware leads to picture output issues
Is your TV internet-connected? If it is then pull the ethernet cable and see if it fixes the problem.

There is a bug in the LG smart TV firmware that is triggered by (I think) the newer UPnP stack that Syabas are now using which causes the TV to reboot.

By all accounts the PCH is behaving properly and it's the LGs that aren't doing what they should, so if this is what's affecting you then see if there is a firmware update available for your TV, or raise a support call with LG.

Thoughts on Syabas support? Share them here

RE: Latest firmware leads to picture output issues
Yes, the TV is internet connected. It isn't a real "smart-tv" per-se, but was their first ones that had some smart features.

I have pulled the ethernet cable and am testing it - will update once I know if it is working.

Thanks heaps

RE: Latest firmware leads to picture output issues
I have the 03-04-120117-21-pop-408-000 firmware on my C200 and got also this problem only via the Epson Tw9000 projector through the Denon avr 3808 I think that i discovered why? (i HopeDodgy)It happend i think if the video setting on the C200 is 1080P-60hz i have used these video setting for a long time but it won't work anymore now!!?? because sometimes in the movie (m2ts)the screen is getting black for a couple of seconds. But i discovered that if i set the video setting to 1080P-24hz the problem is gone?.This is the setting i have > Denon avr3808=1080P - C200=1080P24hz (before 60hz don't work anymore!?:angrySmile
Thanks.
William.

RE: Latest firmware leads to picture output issues
Have you always been running at 1080p, even before the upgrade?
I'm still running the 23rd May Firmware but could never run 1080p 50 or 60hz without dropouts.

I've basically solved that problem today but buying a new High Speed HDMI Cable.

So I'm thinking that if your problem goes away using 1080i, then it could be a cable issue.

RE: Latest firmware leads to picture output issues
Yes i always have running on the 1080P-60Hz video setting have never got a problem with this,But i have a new hdmi cable it's a new on (very good one!?).
This dropout problem came with a new firmware update,i don't think so that the hdmi cabel is the problem on my side.
I think if i running the video in 1080P-24hz it's ok also in 1080I there is no problem.
Where this video problem comes from i do not now??.

RE: Latest firmware leads to picture output issues
I got one new hdmi cable from the hdmi splitter to the projector (10meters).The one between the C200 and receiver is new,but the one out of the receiver to the splitter is stil the old one.
I must stil try it out of the problem is solved?.
But i must say playing in 1080P 24Hz the screen is also great quality.
I do not now exact what the difference is in 1080P 60Hz & 1080P 24 Hz?.
William.

RE: Latest firmware leads to picture output issues
Jatkins - I have the exact same problem which also just started when upgrading to the latest firmware, annoying as all hell. I use component cables at 1080i (highest rez my TV supports). I only have one HDMI port which my blu-ray players demands. This definitely needs looking into by the firmware developers.

Any suggestions guys?
