Unmount HD?
So far I have 2 externals and 2 internals. When not using the C200 I unplug the HD's power cable. When doing so, am I ruining the header files on these drives for future use? I was able to unmount a drive on the 200 remote but it doesn't give that option when 2 drives are plugged in. Not sure of the correct method of unplugging externals. Leaving them on 24/7 doesn't seem right. I also open up the tray for the 3.5 HD when not in use, that drive gets blazing hot !!!
TIA !!! On 120607 firmware |

RE: Unmount HD?
So now I have 4 externals on a power strip and hit the power strip off. Is there a way to unmount these things so I won't corrupt anything. What's everyone else doing?

RE: Unmount HD?
Isn't switching off the C-200 an option for you?
I have my 8 external usb hdds on a master/slave power strip. Master is the C-200. The usb hdds are switched on when I switch the C-200 on. |

RE: Unmount HD?
They make automatic power strips where whatever is in the master outlet will trigger if the other outlets should be on or off. Then via remote you just need to turn on or off the pch and the strip will handle safely turning on and off the usb drives.

RE: Unmount HD?
Never seen an automatic power strip, thanks.
Hitting the power switch on the c200 is basically what i'm doing by just hitting the power strip. No unmounting of drives, just a power hit to the system. |

RE: Unmount HD?
I have never had any corrupted file problem with my ntfs formatted externals. Seven of them (Samsung Story) have their own on/off switch on their front panels and I have switched them off independently while connected to the nmt. Shouldn't be a problem unless you switch them off while saving a file.
