A Few Basic Questions About Scanning
I tried out MNJ when I first got my A210 but didn’t get on with it so I went back to YAMJ. I’ve had my head turned by friend’s new media devices so I thought I’d give NMJ another go before I start looking for another all in one device.
Firstly the layout seems great and I would be very happy with that but I’m having issues with the scanning. 1. I read many, many people asking for scheduled scanning. Is this ever going to happen? 2. Why won’t some films scan properly even when the name is bang on? For example “Avengers Assemble (2012).mkv” will not pick up the new Avengers film but when I go to manually update the new film is the only one it shows? 3. Take Bernie the new one with Jack Black I just can’t get it to not see it as the 1996 version even though I’ve called it “Bernie (2011).mkv”. So what am I doing wrong on the naming? I’ve renamed all my files “Name (Year).mkv” as recommended but some just will not match. With YAMJ I don’t need to do anything just download it with whatever name scan it and bang it picks it up as the right film. These issues wouldn’t really be a problem if when I go and manually edit the film (which I’ve got no problem with) the thumbnail updated too. I’ve found a post from 2010 saying this is an issue and I can’t believe its still happens? I know I can make .nfo files but that’s the reason I went back to YAMJ as I found it a real pain to make them. Hope someone can help? |

RE: A Few Basic Questions About Scanning
So I’ve been trying different things to try and make NMJ work and here’s what I found.
Scheduled scanning is a feature which needs to be implemented by a Popcorn Hour update so I don’t think I’m going to find a work around. Shame as it looks to be a key feature that’s been overlooked. I’ve started using theRenamer to name my films/tv shows. This is a brilliant bit of software that if you are having issues with names I’d recommend you look into. I’ve got it scheduled to run every hour so it scans my downloads directory renames the tv show or film and creates an .nfo file with the IMDB web address in. It then moves it to the relevant directory in my NMJ drive. My entire wall for both films and TV shows is now complete. Shame it’s not as easy as it could be but I got there in the end. What does NMJ v2 give me over v1? |

RE: A Few Basic Questions About Scanning
I use Sickbeard and Couchpotato to find movies. Once a new movie is found and moved to the correct location where my NMJ can pick it up, both programs request an update from NMJ remotely. No need for scheduled updates that way.
