RE: Internal CF solution issue!
Forgive my ignorance, but what's the use of having a CF card inside the PCH? I mean, 2GB it's so little, that i can not see the use it has...

RE: Internal CF solution issue!
Ok...but what is the purpose? Can you make the integrated torrent downloader to work with external usb discs?
I have an asus wl500gP router, which i use to download torrents. I also have a 4GB microdrive, that I'm not using. Would i get any benefit from placing it on the PCH? |

RE: Internal CF solution issue!
You get full skin changing, not only when you go into myihome but from the first screen.
You get torrent download, newsgroup download(next firmware), ftp/smb servers, telnet access. I believe it helps with network connect as you can map a drive from PCH to PC. I used to use mine primarily for testing purposes but with newsgroups I now set it to download my TV etc whilst i am at work, means I can turn OFF my PC during the day. Well...just brought this CF to IDE Adapter: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-CF-TO-3-5-IDE-...m153.l1262
Hope it works...I'm also considering buying an universal power adapter and place the power supply inside the PCH |

RE: Internal CF solution issue!
Remember that if it doesnt work putting a twisted paid cable between the adapter and the PCH IDE socket should get it recognised provided your CF card has fixed disc mode.

I assume it would work with one of these in between: http://www.southernhillscomputer.com/ide40idsmato.html But I ordered this one instead now: http://linitx.com/viewproduct.php?prodid=10307 I hope it fits! >>> LinuxTECH.NET <<<

Explain This Chris? I Have The Same Cf Card As You Also The Same Cf Adapter, I Have A Paid Cable And The 2x40pin Cable Connecters (From Ebay) The Cable As 1 Pin Closed ? each end, How Do I Get Round This? If I Take The Pin Out of the 2x40 connectors, And Connect Up I Get The Blue LED And Thats All. I'm Loosing The Will To Live With This Now , Ive Been Trying So Long To Get It To Work. Dave ..fed-up

RE: Internal CF solution issue!
The only difference then is that you have the 40pin gender from ebay and not the 40pin gender from milesie that I have.
The adapter I have has a small sliver of printed circuit board between the two sets of pins. I simply slide it onto the CF adaper and then slide both onto the PCH IDE socket. It takes away all the hassle of getting the right cable. There is a thread on CF adapters that is pages long and in there it details why it doesnt work its to do with pins 19 and 20. They need swopping over which obviously my milesie adapter does, but if you dont have one then there are IDE cables that have pins 19 and 20 reversed. Here's the thread:- http://www.networkedmediatank.com/showth...CF+adapter If you have just had enough and just want it working then get the milesie gender adapter, top one of the two:- http://www.milesie.co.uk/shop/asp/produc...roduct=677 Goggling the product code gives a few other retailers:- http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=D...arch&meta= A400: SSD+SD Card(Apps), HDMI A300: USB(Apps), HDMI C200: USB(Apps), BD SH-B083L(SB01), HDMI CAT6 Wired Network: TV TX-P42G20, HP ProCurve 1400-8G, Netgear GS-608/605, Synology CS407 |

RE: Internal CF solution issue!
Thank you for the confirmation that the milesie gender adapter works!!
The CF card has to be able to operate in fixed disc mode DMA4. If your CF card doesnt state that it can operate in this way then the chances are it wont. You need a quality CF card in any case as the PCH creates a swop partition on the card and constantly accesses it. This shortens the life of the card but there are manufacturers offering lifetime guarantees, Transcend. I have this CF card working but ive seen a post from someone with a Sandisk one also:- http://www.transcendusa.com/Products/Mod...4&LangNo=0 Cheap at dealextreme:- http://www.dealextreme.com/search.dx/search.transcend But you should find them available locally or via internet company from your country near that price, bearing in mind you may have to return it if it does go wrong.
