[A-110] says it can decode DTS - is this true?
DTS is listed as a supported CODEC for the A-110, but not for the A-100 - so can the A-110 decode DTS?
Thank you. |

RE: [A-110] says it can decode DTS - is this true?
yes it will do that
DTS to PCM.why it isnt avaible on the A-100 is easy to say, we really where thinking about it, to bring it also to the A-100 but it is not makeable its an license costs issue ;(When we release it into the Firmware for A-100 then we have to buy for every device an license for all already sold A-100, we didnt calculate DTS into the A-100 price and we have no way to make an optional plugin or something. regards werner ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Syabas Technology Inc. I didnt notice that I want one now! I was quite happy to wait until 2009 and the next chipset players but DTS has always been my main gripe. Now to start justifying why I need a new player to the Mrs.

But I still want one. Audio: Onkyo HT-S5100 7.1 (Coaxial) Video: Sony KLV-52W400a (HDMI) BD/DVD: Sony PS3 (HDMI) Remote: (Shaun looks over the fence and says): Yes, lots |

RE: [A-110] says it can decode DTS - is this true?
we had an long discussion on giving an update out for the A-100 to enable DTS to PCM and we tried to get an cheap license price for it, but it isnt makeable about license costs because we have to pay for all already sold devices and that are many
, on the new series it is calculated into the price where it is easy now to make it, i'm sorry for the A-100 users.regards werner ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Syabas Technology Inc. DBA Popcornhour |

You guys must have known that it was at least a possiblity? Part of me says that if I was really concerned about cost of a new AVR etc then I would have continued to convert DTS to AC3. But part of me is very upset about the fact that Syabas said nothing. What about doing a online licence? Sign up, pay blah, get DTS decoding? They did it with the showcenter (think it was about $10).
Personally not that bothered, I have a Denon Receiver, but know this would help a lot of folks out. Good move putting it in the 110 though, I have stunned by how much syabas has listened to it's customers whilst developing the new popcornhour. |

RE: [A-110] says it can decode DTS - is this true?
it wasnt clear enough to say it will come, it was not clear where we finished the contract and where we could decide to make DTS to PCM on newer devices.

RE: [A-110] says it can decode DTS - is this true?
for that we must programm some kind of extra system to make that and that means lots of engineering power
and also we have todo then an extra site which also needs extra manpower to manage that and i think there are much more important things todo right now or not? but i will add that to the weekly conference call, it was also an wish from my side to provide an update for a-100 users but after knowing how much its cost i can understand them .(08-06-2008 08:48 AM)daniel_owen_uk Wrote: What about doing a online licence? You would have to tie the firmware update to the MAC address of the PCH so that it couldnt be used by users who havent paid. P.S. Which Denon do you have? Only a cheapo one, 1705, decodes DTS well enough though ![]() See your point, and I did wonder about his, not 100% how pinnacle did it. |
