Chris,

Just because you are super moderator, it doesn't give you a right to modify's someone post. Post on your own.
As said below yes it does, we all do it as moderators as it is quicker to address individual points/accusations. We do NOT modify your words.

FYI -- IOData Avel Linkplayer 2 is no XBOX etcetc. Its based on sigma chipset 8620 and its the original NMT. It was released in 2003 in japan and 2004 in US. It plays all formats including mpeg and TS (except h.264).

Old Chipset and doesnt play H264, old news im afraid. Does it run Syabas's NMT middleware for EM863x devices? Obviously not as its 862x series. I actually never mentioned the IOData player and said that as a flashy GUI is your main priority then go with an XBOX. An XBOX will have a better GUI than the IOData thingy.

The fanboys on this forum will tell you that its not perfect .. but it works most of the time and things will improve.
Which is true
I'm still waiting for the day (more than 1yr and still counting) -- TS/mpeg playback still sucks (no ffwd/rew for TS - buggy for mpeg ... hangs most of the time)
TS playback is not prefect but running any TV recording through TSDoictor fixes it usually for playback
.. and PCH/Syabas is too damn arrogant to fix it or removing it from the feature list.
They are not the one coming across as arrogant believe me!
I think they only cater to torrent crowd -- fixing mkv and xvid
Dont use torrents myself MKV has had a lot of emphasis as rightly or wrongly it what the majority were/are looking for in a HD media player. It's called Marketing and aiming your product at your customers.
-- anything to mpeg/TS etc is out of the window. They just blame on the mpeg recording. Everyone else plays it fine, but noooo PCH wants a perrfeect recording.
See above
My suggestion -- it only gets worse from here -- if you are within 30 days, return it, take a 10-15% restocking fees loss
and go back to your xbox. I went back to my IOData Avel Linkplayer 2. Its rock solid even after 4 years.
If you want a flashy GUI then the XBOX has the power to provide it, it doesnt however play as many format as the PCH or HD. That is why you probably went for the NMT.
I wish I had returned it when I had 30 days. Now I dont even use it, its just sitting in the corner switched off.
I think we are all getting that feeling that we wished you had
Before anyone flame this post, just know that I really dont care what you have to say -- unless you are willing to pay me for $200 for my PCH Wink
I've earned my right to air my grievances by *PAYING* for the PCH. Enough samples have been provided to Syabas by eemveepee, and others but the issue has not been catered. So, dont tell me file bugs, provide samples, etc etc crap.

Whatever

Superfly, go to opensubs.org and download the srt of the subs. Easy.

It's all about how badly you want to see it. If you're lazy, you'll sit and wait. If you're a problem solver instead of a complainer, you'll find a solution.

RE: Goodbye Updates & Fixes
Im wondering if anyone with an a-100 has actually taken apart the a110 firmware and copied the firmware code for dts decoding and patched it into the a100 firmware and got that working Wink

theyre essentially the same hardware so why not?

I remember chris mentioning something about this a long long time ago.

RE: Goodbye Updates & Fixes
Since Sybas is not producing the A-100 anymore. I hope they stop updating the firmware A-100 and have one same firmware for the A100 and the A110.
They will not break the license fot DTS. Because the A100 is not available anymore.
They just have to make a compatible firmware for the A110, that can be used on the A100.

Good plan?

RE: Goodbye Updates & Fixes
thats wrong we cant open dts for A-100 because it will break the license with DTS, so we could loose the license or we can pay for all and i mean since the beginning we sold A-100 for every A-100 an fee.

Regards,
Werner

RE: Goodbye Updates & Fixes
I don't know if it's possible but would it be possible to put a special upgrade feature in the firmware that would allow a specific upgrade firmware that would be coded to a specific A-100's Mac address or other identifying signature? The Upgrade would add the DTS Feature and Upgrade the A100 to an "A101", From that point on it could use the normal upgrade procedure for an "A101".

I suppose there could just be an Unlock key that would change the A100 to an "A101" that would be coded to a specific A100, then it could run an update which would support DTS , Either way, the Special upgrade functionality would have to be added to the current firmware.

This same Idea could also be used for installing the Cardea License whenever that is finally installed

RE: Goodbye Updates & Fixes
Not possible im afriad, there will NOT be DTS for the A100, the price difference between the two is primarily due to the license cost.

There would be no point in an A101 as that is the A110 virtually. The change to SATA and other hardware tweaks wont have cost much more than the A100 poarts.

A400: SSD+SD Card(Apps), HDMI A300: USB(Apps), HDMI C200: USB(Apps), BD SH-B083L(SB01), HDMI
CAT6 Wired Network: TV TX-P42G20, HP ProCurve 1400-8G, Netgear GS-608/605, Synology CS407

RE: Goodbye Updates & Fixes
My suggestion was only for those who already have an A100 and wanted to add licensed DTS support since the hardware is capable. Not to create a A101 that would be sold. Obviously the A100+License upgrade would cost more than the A110 but would be cheaper than buying a second unit. I just think that if any license support be added they should all be added. Like the Advertised Cardea Licence which is still not supported. I think the main holdup is just available man hours to do the coding and still keeping up with newer chips that keep coming out.

Either way I'm really happy with my A-100 from the first production run. still running great, the MVPMC project has made it the best upgrade for my MVP and my wife loves it. And I hope Syabas keeps supporting developers like emveepee.

sure emveepee is an big supporter for us, i really love his work and i try todo everything for it that he gets all he needs.
About DTS i have to say no we wont make DTS for A-100 avaible because it is to much money we have to pay, about the other way to let users buy the license is to much work todo also, so i have to say DTS wont come.

RE: Goodbye Updates & Fixes
If DTS is so important for some people, and they want to pay for a DTS license. Why not buy a DTS capable receiver.

You won't benefit from the quality of DTS if you downmix it to 2 channels.
That's just my point of view.

If you want DTS, buy a DTS capable receiver, they don't cost much these days.

NMT:Popcornhour A100
Receiver:Yamaha RX-V659
TV: Sony 32" LCD HD-Ready
Storage:LaCie ethernetdisk 500 and a bunch of hdd's in my comp.
Remote: Too many, so Harmony 885

I agree, if you want DTS that much, you should get a DTS decoder/receiver (if you haven't already, considering sound is a big part of the full HD experience).

I think A100 users just want DTS for convenience. Not having to convert files and such. I often take my PCH to a friend's house and it's a bit frustrating having to look for files with AC3 (or do the conversion myself).

But anyhow, I understand the reason for the first-party coders not to include DTS in A100 firmwares Wink
