TwonkyMedia and MKV
I'm using TwonkyMedia Server 4.4.4 and I would like to stream MKV files. These are simply not shown in PCH menu.
But if I rename them to let's say .wmv, I can see them and even play them fine. It's so stupid ![]() Does anybody know if I can add .mkv as supported file format in TM ? I tried to register to official forum but never received any validation email ![]() Thank you. |

I could not find a way so I just rename them and be happy! Actually, I created a subdirectory so I know which files really are .mkv files (since other media players in the hourse cannot play them at all)... If you find a way, please let us know! |

RE: TwonkyMedia and MKV
This is exactly what I'm doing. I rename all my MKV files to WMV and place them in their own MKV folder. It's a pain but I think it's worth it considering how efficient and fast of a media server Twonky is. My movies buffer for 40 seconds via samba, a few seconds via HTTP, and only a fraction of a second via TwonkyMedia. The speed and efficiency via Twonky is undeniable.

RE: TwonkyMedia and MKV
Wait until you see the speed of SMB in the next firmware. Why wont Twonky add mkv support to their http server app?

Really stupid ... For what I tried, SMB in the next firmware (same as beta ?) is still far from NFS or HTTP or Twonky. |

RE: TwonkyMedia and MKV
I also can't understand why Twonky doesn't natively support MKV. If all you have to do is change the extension, you know it has the ability to stream MKV files, why can't Twonky just make the app recognize those files types? It's so stupid.

RE: TwonkyMedia and MKV
Fixed with last release (4.4.6 on web site, 4.4.7 when it's installed ...).
