But anyways...we can talk about it more in that other thread if you guys want. Lets try to keep this one focused on the index stuff Smile

Excal: I have seen the release of your new yamj skin with robinsj and think it looks great. I volunteer to test the SD version for you if you like. Just let me know what you need and which thread to use for it. I am no html or programming whiz, that's for sure, but I know a little bit and have made a custom index.htm for my PCH and yamj SD skin.

Ok, more to the point of this thread, I have a question about the index.htm file autoloading when placed in the root of a "source".

I have an index.htm file that I placed in the root of a usb stick, and when I select that usb stick source from the PCH home menu, it does not autoload the index.htm file. I have to browse to the file, then select it and it loads just fine and works well. I also tried placing the file on the local hard drive in my PCH (copying it there via SMB from my pc) and that also does not autoload.

Can someone tell me why this does not work for me? I am using a 2 week old A-110 and have not done anything to it except for installing a hard drive and the NMT apps. I am using the latest firmware as of a week ago. I have NOT installed any of the new start.cgi or play.cgi files as mentioned in this thread.

Any ideas? I would be much obliged.

Known Syabas bug introduced in the latest firmware... next release fixes that,
and hopefully made public by the end of the month.

I put it in the root of the hard drive share called "share". That is the closest to the root of that drive I know how to get to via SMB from my computer. Here is a picture:

Is this the right place? I also tried it in the root of a usb key, still no go.

RE: The Index.htm thread
Hmm....so you're saying after you select Hard_DISK you have to select the fourth icon and browse to the file?

I didn't think that was broke in the hard_drive...only in everything else...maybe it was on the A110 tho.

Either way it should be fixed in the next firmware.

I understand it is a problem for network shares, but supposedly not for the local drive or a usb drive. It is working for others in this forum when the hard drive or usb drive is used.

Yes, I select the hard disk (or the usb disk) as the source, then I have to select the 4th icon, browse to the index.htm and open it. the file and the code works then, but not "automatically". I always have to select it.

RE: The Index.htm thread
FYI, mine works both from local hard_drive and usb_stick_a1

If that helps, i have the A110 + the latest firmware.

RE: The Index.htm thread
Hi Journey,

Sorry to ask you again but im not 100% sure where / which files to edit here ?

"@fimo
1) its certainly possible Smile The classic theme is mostly a new item_template.html with images.
a) copy classic/item_template.html to mySleek/media_item_template.html
b) change mySleek/media.config to have
ITEM_TEMPLATE="media_item_template.html"
PERPAGE=12
ROWLEN=4
c) optionally change mySleek/web.config and mySleek/change.config to also use media_item_template.html
You may also need to copy images over from classic as well. I think thats most of what needs to be done.

a)
I found the file classic/item_template.html but cant find mySleek/media_item_template.html ?
Does it mean that i have to copy the classic .html and rename it to media_item_template.html and paste it in
the sleek folder ?
b)
Is this the right way to paste into the media.config ?

PAGE_TEMPLATE="${THEME}/index_template.html"
ITEM_TEMPLATE="${THEME}/item_template.html"
ITEM_TEMPLATE="media_item_template.html"
PERPAGE=12
ROWLEN=4

ITEM_TABLE_FUNC="show_item_table"
PAGING_FUNC="show_pagination

c) If i would like to edit the shutdown button link from poweroff to reboot in the sleek theme
which file do i have to edit ?

thank you for your help
@fimo Smile

RE: The Index.htm thread
@fimo

when i say set a variable, i meant to change the variable thats already there Smile So if right now it says
ITEM_TEMPLATE="${THEME}/item_template.html"
replace it with
ITEM_TEMPLATE="${THEME}/media_item_template.html"

technicaly though, your way would still work if your variable definitions come after the ones already in the file(whichever definition comes last is the one used)

same for PERPAGE and ROWLEN. The reference to mySleek was assuming you wouldn't modify the Sleek theme, you would copy the sleek theme to a new name(mySleek) to have your customized version of sleek. If you modify the Sleek directory you will lose all changes when you install the next version of start.cgi. For this reason its highly suggested that you make all theme changes in your own folders. All you need to do is copy the directory to a new name(still in the .user_homepage/theme directory).

It has occured to me there is an easier way to do this though.

Look at the directions in the SimpleCSS directory, in the README file. It explains how to take a normal theme(like classic, or nmt) and turn it into a theme that includes a custom homepage. Use the images and homepage_template.html from sleek while following the directions. Again you will want to make a copy of one of the themes to modify, as opposed to modifying the orrigional theme.

c) find the link that points to poweroff.cgi, point it to reboot.cgi instead

Need some help
Hi Guys!

I just installed start.cgi.0.10, but nothing happened.
I rebooted my PCH also. Is there something that I have to do to make it work other than install?

Antonio

There is no theme options in my preferences screen... It's look exactly the same. Do preferences should look different?
I must be missing something...
