myiHome v4.7 video transcoding
I just downloaded and installed the version 4.7 of myiHome for XP, the strange thing is in the "preference/video" setup, there is no option for video transcoding, which the help page shows. Is there a different version of myiHome? or was the help page showing something else?

thx,
Ke

There's no need for transcoding as it only works with Syabas devices and the files it plays.

Is there a particular format that the NMT is not playing for you?

well, the help page shows transcoding for RealMedia and 3GP files, don't think the NMT support those...

emaileverything,

RealMedia and 3GP files transcoding from RMVB to XVID using mencoder was supported in myiHome 3.x for old Syabas3 EM8620L player. The reason we disabled this in myiHome 4.7 due to

1. Real Time transcoding require powerful PC and might not possible for HD content
2. NMT AVI parser from Sigma doing extensive file seeking and might not suitable for live streaming

Once a profile the the PCH is made for TVersity, It will Transcode pretty much anything that needs to be. On first play if it isnt fast enough you can exit but it will keep transcoding the file and keep it in its cache for next time you play it.

I suppose this type of function could be added to myIhome.

Perhaps th FW could be modified so when you go to a page with a list of files, it will also be notified if a file isn't ready and may change the files icon to red so you know it's not ready to be played yet.

I have had success with Tversity transcoding to mpeg2 as it showed up on the PH network. It was set to transcode for PS3 settings, pre the divx firmware upgrade.
