RE: Nero Digital .mp4 SUBS PLEASE!!!!!!
I second that.
Nero recode is a nice mp4/H264/aac all-in-one solution to safely backup
DVDs and is giving nice results in low bitrates/file sizes.
Thruth is that it embedes the subtitles in the mp4 container in a non-standard way (info here), but given the widespread Nero install base, subtitles support should come to PCH.

Almost one year ago I posted this, what's happened since NOT A DAMN THING.....from popcornhour's developers....Angry
Mean while I have bought 3 x a110 boxes, so I today have one B-110 + 3 x A110 +++++ surprice a very very cheap Denver dvd player with network connection that playes Nero Digital .mp4 files WITH SUBS Smile:)and thats on a machine that costs less than 80 dollars......it also players .mkv .divx. .wmv .avi + lots more.....

I dont download movies on the internet as I buy al my movies on dvd/blueray and rip them to my media server (6 x 1TB seagate server disks driven by Windows Home Server). The Media server delivers music and movies to 4 x pc's/laptops and 4 popcorn hour machines, so I rip al movies to Nero Digital .mp4 format since all mediaplayers can play this format smootly.Smile..all though the popcorn boxes without subsAngry

So my question will popcorns products ever gonna play Nero Digital .mp4 files with subs Dodgy

Regards...

RE: Nero Digital .mp4 SUBS PLEASE!!!!!!
Propably not

The NMT are not Nero Digital certified (never claimed to be either), and thus do not support the non standard subtitle implementation in .mp4 used by Nero.

As you see from this thread there hasnt been a hughe demand for it either with only one other backing up your request, which is by far not enough to valid expensive ressource development (or adding possible licensecost to Nero for certification) for this feature . And with the many many other posibilities of creating dvd backups in h264.mkv using freeware tools instead of commercial tools like Nero, I cant really see the NMT ever add support for one specific commercial tool.

Sorry

I only use Nero Digital format since its VERY EASY to use, throw in the dvd, rip and encode, wait 1-2 hours´, move to server, DONE!!!!!

CAN'T do that with the freeware SHIT, when I bought the popcorn hour machines it could play almost everything also .mp4 but nowhere in the manual was mentioned that it was without subtittle Angry

If I want subtitles on my ripped movies on the NMT, I probably have to download pirated .mkv movies like the rest of youDodgy

RE: Nero Digital .mp4 SUBS PLEASE!!!!!!
Although I don't like the tone and generalizations in your statements: Freeware is not shit. No, not everybody on this board downloads .mkv's. Nero additions to the standard is not specified as a supported format anywhere.

Anyway, have you considered using external subtitle files, .srt's?
Don't know about the legality of them in your country but they are very easily found on the net including in danish, and just as easily used.

you can do the same just as easy with freeware tools like Handbrake and others, freeware doesnt mean its shit.

Why should it mention that ? embedded subtitles are not part of the official mp4 standards, the NMT support the official mp4 specifications as they were at the time the NMT specifications were written, so no reason to mention it doesnt support something thats not part of the standards.
And the NMT specifications does not say its Nero digital certified or that it supports their non standard implementation of subtitles.

No reason for the angry face unless its on yourself for not understanding how to read the specifications correctly. Wink

Nonsense, many here dont download pirated .mkv movies, but create them ourselves using good freeware tools. There are many ways you can do this other than using Nero.

RE: Nero Digital .mp4 SUBS PLEASE!!!!!!
you could rip the subs of the dvd and convert them to .srt (which is fully supported). if only we could ever get idx/sub support it would be even simpler. rip the subs before you start up nero, then while nero is doing its job take 10 mins and convert the idx/sub file to srt
heres a couple of guides for you 1 2

Sorry for my angry writing earlier this day.Cool
I know handbrake and have used it, tryed it, and found out I was not to happy with the image quality it delivered..
I took one movie and converted it to.mkv so that the filesize was about 2 GB.
Then I also with Nero did the same thing ended with almost same filesize around 2 GB....and the winner was NERO (using Nero's HD standard settings)
.mkv file movies was simply to picelated (noisy/blocky)
.mp4 crisp and clear
I have done the same thing with lots more movies playing around with the settings and ripping bluray and still thinks Nero delivers the best wievable result.

My main tv is Samsung LE46A956 which is 46" LED and Full HD...

I have lately convertet lots of movies to .iso format but my home server will soon run out of space ( Intalled with 6 x 1 TB Seagate disc's) since my movie collection is over 2200 original Dvd's and Blue Ray discs ....(No Illegal pirate shit here) thats why I want a smaller format like Nero Digital with subtittle possibility.....I dont want to spend lots and lots of time on converting with severtal freeware programs (some still very buggy) but only want to use a simply easy program that rips and converts....I dont have the time for it since my easy work weeks are 65 hours and my worst is 85 hour's...
