RE: Pch a-110 taxes to the netherlands
For me the bill is 38.06 (35.91 VAT + 2.15 advance provision for TNT) for the A-110.

It seems some people get only a bill for the VAT and others have to pay import duties as well.

If, and how much, import duties you'll have to pay depends on the type of goods that you import. If it's a 'video playback device without magnetic tape' (Taric code 8521 90 00) you'll have to pay 13.9% import duty.
This should be the same for the whole EU.

although... if nobody at customs checks your package or decides on a different Taric code you pay a different amount of import duties or no import duties at all.

BTW: TNT only collects the taxes, it's customs that decides.

Thanks for your post, I also received a bill from TNT yesterday. I have to pay 68,72 for VAT and duty! But indeed no specification! I really like the fact they charge me of advanced payment provision. I didn't ask them to pay it in advance....
But what you said about the magnetic tape thing. Do you mean you will pay duties when they think it has? Because then I might be able to tell them this PCH is just a casing and save me some money! ;-) Or am I missing something here...?

RE: Pch a-110 shipping problems to the Netherlands
The European Union charges 14 import duty in addition to whatever your country charges in VAT.

Now for DVD players etc its 14% but for computer stuff its zero. There is a post on the forum that states that Syabas/PCH have declared the units as computer related. There is a number that is associated with the declaration, also in the post, which TNT/Customs should use to ensure you do NOT get charged import duty. If they dont use that number and look or use their own number then you get mischarged EU import duty like DVD players etc.

To anyone is Europe I would say challenge any invoice for >40 euros. Report and admin charges that are over 10 euros in this thread, over charging occurs regularly and will be used by PCH in negotiations with couriers for future deliveries:-

Wow, that's good news! I'd like to send them an email then... But do you know where I can find this post? (About Syabas/PCH declaring this machine as computer related?) I've tried to find it using the help, but I found it again impossible to find anything on this forum. (It keeps saying no results...) And my query isn't that strange being 'Syabas declare' or Syabas computer related'. Only Syabas gives me about 46 pages.. :-( Any help would be awesome!
If I get a reply to my email to TNT, I'll let you guys know and post my finding in the thread you mentioned.

RE: Pch a-110 shipping problems to the Netherlands
I think this was one of them but there was another with the actual import numbers:-
http://www.networkedmediatank.com/showth...5#pid81015

Looks from that one that originally Slovenia was charging 0% but have inspected the PCH and call it a video player and charge 14% import duties. Seems to depend on what your country courier/customs declare the goods and if on inspection they decide its not PC but more AV related.

RE: Pch a-110 shipping problems to the Netherlands
Hi guys! I called TNT today to ask why the bills are so much different for everybody here in The Netherlands and after calling a few departments a friendly guy on the phone helped me out. He didn't understand why customers were charged with many different invoices, but he agreed mine was wrong indeed. (I had to pay 68.72 euro). After describing what the PCH does, he agreed with me it is a computer related device and therefor I don't need to pay the import duties (worth 24.74). He also said another mistake was made (in my advantage), because the VAT had been calculated only on the device and not the shipping costs outside the EU. I didn't agree on that one, because the VAT was calculated over an amount of 262 dollars and that is the price of my A110 and the shipping costs together. But he thought the PCH costs 262 dollars...

I thought I wouldn't have to pay VAT (Because computer related stuff is 0%, but it appears I thought wrong..)

But anyway, I send him an email after our telephone call and he promised to change the bill!
Good new to anyone who paid too much! Just give it a try and say it is clearly computer related and therefor you don't have to pay import duties.
Call this number to go to the correct department from TNT:
026-3191104

I have also sent an email to Syabas to get some more info about import numbers and their declaration of their devices. When I get some response, I'll let you guys know!

RE: Pch a-110 shipping problems to the Netherlands
Thanks for the update glad you got them to correct the incorrect charging.
Really hate courier firms ripping people off whether its accidental or not.

I knew it was not correct but also know how frustrating it can be getting them to acknowledge it and correct it.

RE: Pch a-110 shipping problems to the Netherlands
Hi, I got an answer to my email from Syabas:

Dear Customer,

We do declare all the PCH products in International Trade Customs tariff
number : 8517620090 "Other apparatus for the transmission or reception of
voice, images or other data, including apparatus for communication in a
wired or wireless network (such as a local or wide area network)" which
are stated in our official invoice.

Please note that http://support.popcornhour.com/article.aspx?id=1001 , the
import duty and VAT charges are responsibile by customer. It may depend on
TNT policy for charges.

Thanks.

Regards,
The Popcorn Hour Sales Team

For the Dutch guys:
I've looked up this code in the import codes on douane.nl, and I think this is the same:

(Says 0% 'Conventioneel Douanerecht')

Hope this will help anyone to save some money.. ;-)

RE: Pch a-110 shipping problems to the Netherlands
Hi Cris! Sorry for my uberlate response...

Just call the number in my previous post and explain what i said in my previous mails. That should do the trick. If not, let me know. I'll give you the name of the guy I spoke. But they can look it up in a list to see in what category the PCH belongs and see they've made a mistake.
I got the screenshot from the same pdf ;-)

Good luck and let me know!

John

RE: Pch a-110 shipping problems to the Netherlands
The customs in the Netherlands is a nightmare apparently. I shipped a package there a couple of weeks ago from the US and it's still stuck in Dutch customs Sad

RE: Pch a-110 shipping problems to the Netherlands
An update
Called TNT, explained situation, was told to send an email.. Which I did on 15/12.

Today, mail arrives, it's a credit note of €33.22 Smile
I got
- the invoerrechten fully back (24.74)
- of the btw (6.27)
- and a kredietbeperking (1.86 + 19% btw) - no idea what that is !

So in the end, import in NL costed me €35.5
