Community Software Installer is an easy-to-use software installation program, which runs on any platform with Microsoft .NET-Framwork (2.0 or higher) or Mono (Linux). It is developed by Ger Teunis as published in the NMT forum. It works partially on Mac OSX, but future version should correct this.

The CSI contains many user generated applications, skins and Custom Menus. Since version 1.6 you can install and change Buffering Images. The installer downloads the needed files from a central repository hosted by Ger Teunis.

At version 2.1.5, the CSI contained 53 apps, 34 themes, 13 custom menus, 18 wait image sets and 29 webservices (Far less than that on C200/A200). More packages are added continuously. Please look at the NMTinstaller.com site for the latest updates!

Additional features

Community Software Installer added more features which make controlling NMT more pleasant. Some of those features are:

Clean - Cleanup the NMT's drive
Deep Clean - Will cleanup more
Restart - Will restart the nmt
Shutdown - Will shutdown the NMT
Install firmware - Allows you to install firmware using a zip file
Add webservices - For easy adding webservices to your NMT

Packages & AppInit

Since version 2.0.0 Community Software Installer got the ability to install, uninstall, stop, start, restart and configure auto-start on applications. Also since this version creating packages has made a lot more easy and standard for developers. The new package standard (called AppInit) will take care of integrating application a lot more easy without the need for developers to reinvent the wheel over and over. Applications are now installed in a separate location, which will not intervene with the NMT's firmware; for better stability. The installer opened up a lot for developers. Developers are able to maintain their own repository (list of applications) now without the need to contact the author of the installer. More information is available [here]

Installation & Setup

Installation is simple. Download the installation file from the download page. Install the application and set up the FTP server information. For server, simply type the IP address of your NMT. Also make sure the FTP Server is running under NMT Applications.

Below is a list of content which was available in version 1.6.0, this list may changed on a daily basis. Because of the regular changes the below list is not complete and will not get updated that often. For regular updates launch CSI and inspect the "New" or "Updated" tab.

CAUTION - fonts in both packages nave no cyrilic letters inside. In order to overcome this problem you have to replace TTF file inside package with one you want

Telnet, Busybox and Midnight Commander
