  • Each NMT Apps file that accompanies a firmware release is different. Do NOT assume that all apps files are the same. Read your firmware release notes to see which version of apps you require for the firmware you are using.
  • You MUST use the USB update option to reinstall the latest NMT Apps version. If you attempt to reinstall via online update the NMT will correctly report that no update is available as even if the install has become corrupted the version is still reported.
  • If you are updating then you can use Online to update, however, in case you need to reinstall a current version, is it good practice to know how to update/reinstall via USB.

How to Reinstall NMT apps

Place ONLY the file syb8634.nmt (100 Series) or apps.nmt (200 Series) on the USB stick, NO folder
Place ONLY the file syb8634.nmt (100 Series) or apps.nmt (200 Series) on the USB stick, NO folder
  • Insert a USB stick into your PC.
  • Download the corresponding firmware package from the NMT website and unzip it on your PC desktop.
  • Look for the file called syb8634.nmt (app.nmt for C-200) and copy the file to your USB drive. Do not copy it in a folder, only copy/transfer the file to the USB stick.
  • Insert the stick into the NMT and reboot
  • When the reboot has finished enter SETUP -> Maintenance -> NMT Setup Wizard menu.
  • Chose USB Update and Fresh install if you want to totally erase the internal HDD including your files.
  • Choose Typical install if you only want to update/reinstall the NMT apps.
  • Then after formatting and installing the NMT Apps it should give you a message that it's rebooting, nothing else.

Other Tips/Tricks

  • If you only want to do a Typical install and only a Fresh install is available then through Telnet/Cli Commands it may be possible to reinitialize the Typical option through the instructions on thw WIKI page Quick Format and NMT Apps Install. The information is written with regards the A100/110 players only presently.
  • If you still cannot get the HDD to reinstall the NMT apps and are sure that the USB stick, NMT App file, etc are correct then take the HDD out of the NMT. Connect the HDD to your PC and format it to NTFS. Then replace back into the NMT and follow the instructions above. An online update will also work now that the HDD is erased totally.
  • If you are using a 200 series NMT make sure if you have more than one location where the NMT Apps could be installed that you correctly specify where you want the Apps installed and also which location is going to be your Media Drive aka 'share'. You can for example specify the the NMT Apps to be installed onto a USB stick. Then specify an internal NTFS HDD as the Media Drive. This means that if the NMT Apps become corrupted and need reinstalling or updating that you are only updating the USB stick and not your files on the HDD. Plus the HDD can remain NTFS formatted and therefore no Ext drivers are needed for a Windows PC to read the HDD
